Event venues are opening back up for business. While we have moved most of our spring and summer events to 2021, we are seeing an upswing in smaller parties and events this year and are offering a discount so that our guests can celebrate in the “new normal”.
Smaller celebrations can work for almost any type of event that has to make a change to accommodate social distancing requirements and safe practices. Many couples are holding “minimonies” with around 10 people, all of whom are necessary to the official marriage ceremony, including the couple, parents, and officiant and photographer. For these small ceremonies, we provide just enough staff and we stay at a safe distance; this is a very simple event and usually does not include food and beverage service. Many of these couples are getting married now and rescheduling their big parties for next year.
We have also hosted micro-weddings of 30 – 35 people. This allows for the ceremony to include parents and siblings, best man and bridesmaid, officiant, photographer, and light food service. Our preferred caterers are providing some very creative options for low-contact food and beverage service. Unlike many venues in the city, we include parking right next door for your group. These events are very personal and can be quite unique to the wishes of the couple!
We have had to become creative and to seek new ways to use this beautiful art deco theater, for the benefit of the community and for the many wedding couples, graduates, and birthday celebrants who have had to cancel their big event this year. Here are a few of the new things we are working on:
- Photoshoots for graduates, with cap and gown and on the stage – as it would have been! Our projector screen can be the backdrop to show the school, photos of the student, even PowerPoint messages from the proud parents! Because our space is so large, parents and siblings can attend with social distancing ensured. We offer an hourly rate of $ 200/hour for the stage area, screen presentations, and any area for photos.
- Wedding photoshoots allow the couple and close family to dress for the occasion, and to comfortably and safely use the many gorgeous spaces to record their memories. Hourly rates make this an easy and affordable option at just $200 per hour and $250 if our AV team is required (4 hours maximum).
- Movie nights for the community! We are gearing up for showing classics and family favorites, and we know our neighbors are wanting to get back to normal, but movie theaters are still closed. Our venue allows for a socially distanced setting in front of the big screen, and our concession area in the lobby will be complete with snacks and beverages. Stay tuned!
- Small cocktail parties for non-profit fundraising: Our pub space allows for a smaller gathering of your board or VIPs, with proper social distancing arranged in advance, and plenty of masks and hand sanitizer for your group. These gatherings can also include a ZOOM option for important messages to the larger group.
Often a crisis will allow the birth of creative ideas, and in this pandemic, we are finding new and safe ways for our guests to come together. Whether a celebration or just a movie night, we are here for you at Mayne Stage in Rogers Park.
