The Trio Of Oz features the work of legendary jazz drummer Omar Hakim and pianist extraordinaire Rachel Z, along with acoustic bass player Maeve Royce. The group builds their musical presentation on compositions by artists as varied as Duke Ellington, Depeche Mode, Wayne Shorter, Joni Mitchell, Judy Garland, Sting, Peter Gabriel, The Killers, Coldplay, Stone Temple Pilots and Björk. The Trio of OZ re-interprets these artists’ songs with imagination, a deep sense of groove and a rich harmonic soundscape that serve as a launch pad for creative improvisation deeply rooted in the tradition of Jazz. Omar Hakim is well known for his extensive work with artists such as Weather Report, Sting, Miles Davis and David Bowie. Pianist extraordinaire Rachel Z has worked with artists like Wayne Shorter, Steps Ahead and Peter Gabriel, earning her international recognition and acclaim from her peers and fans alike. Maeve Royce has been playing with the trio since 2005, adding another dimension to the group’s arrangements with her enchanting bow work and her formidable virtuosity.
