An Evening with Jessie Arlen
Jessie Arlen -- 23 year-old singer/songwriter and Evanston native (now based in New York City), returns to Chicago for a special concert at Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Avenue, on Friday, November 26th at 8pm. Described as a crossover artist with roots in jazz, Arlen is a classification-defying singer who embraces songs in a way that belies her relative youth. Arlen’s pure, soulful voice lends itself to multiple musical styles including jazz, folk, pop and R&B.
In 2007, Arlen was awarded a prestigious Downbeat Student Music Award for “Best Jazz Vocalist.” Earlier this year, she released her debut jazz album entitled “Certain Surprise.” Since releasing her album, Arlen has been focusing on writing and her own original music. She will debut many of these new songs on the 26th along with favorites off of “Certain Surprise.” Joining her will be a talented group of musicians based out of NYC and Brooklyn, NY including Max Jaffe (drums), Rob Lundberg (bass), Angelo Spagnolo (guitar) and Calum Ingram (cello).
Jessie will be performing new original songs with a full band of New York musicians.
