The 6-Time Winner of The Chicago Music Awards, FUNKADESI is capturing the attention of the U.S. and the rest of the globe. Funkadesi has been hailed by Time Magazine, and even caught the attention of U.S. Senator Barack Obama, who notes: “Funkadesi really knows how to get a crowd going. I can't say enough how energizing this band is. There's a lot of funk in that desi!” Funkadesi proudly hails from Chicago, representing the diverse multi-ethnic communities within the city. What distinguishes Funkadesi as a group is each band member's unique and uncompromised cultural/musical contribution merging to create one unifying sound and vision. With their not-to-be-missed live shows and visible racial and musical diversity, the band is ideally suited for festivals, nightclubs, world music concerts, weddings & commitment ceremonies, corporate events, as well children's programs. Funkadesi's one-world sound, roots-watering vision, and positive vibe makes for a unique and compelling musical force.

The performance will also feature many local world music artists who have collaborated with the band over the past decade and a half. Notable guest appearances include Bollywood Groove, Sappho’s Secret Love (a duo featuring multi-instrumentalist and Ulele founder Stone, and violin/erhu maestra Chihsuan Yang from Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues Band), and West African drum/dance ensemble An Ka Fo.
