Ensemble dal Niente presents Hard Music Hard Liquor
The holiday season brings you The Nutcracker and The Messiah. Dal Niente brings you Hard Music Hard Liquor.
Known for its fearless approach to difficult contemporary repertoire, Dal Niente throws several of its artists center stage in wild (yet classic?) soloistic displays of instrumental and vocal virtuosity, with remarkable piano works by Brian Ferneyhough and Stefan Prins, whose Piano Hero #1 places the musician in battle with an alter ego via live video. Back by popular demand will be Jesse Langen in a reprise of his signature role in Frank Zappa's The Duke of Prunes. This event welcomes all audience members ages 18 and up.

Since Dal Niente was founded in Chicago in 2004, the organization has presented countless world and North American premieres. Many of these premieres have been the result of major commissioning grants including awards from the Fromm Music Foundation, Meet the Composer, the American Composers Forum, and the Jerome Foundation. Last July, the ensemble performed at the famous Darmstadt New Music Courses, where they were awarded the Kranichstein Music Prize: the highest honor for performers of contemporary music. Dal Niente's current season includes nine Chicago concerts; they will also bring their spirited, eclectic approach to new music to several national and international festivals.
