Drew Andrews & The Spectral Cities

"…powerful voice that sounds worlds away…"
-ZACH ROGUE

San Diego-based indie musician, Drew Andrews, toured, wrote, recorded and performed in both The Album Leaf and Via Satellite before releasing his debut solo album, Only Mirrors, nominated for Album of the Year and Best Alternative Album at the 2009 San Diego Music Awards. Drew's unique and captivating musical style offers "Ethereal" sounds, quiet instruments and gentle finger picking, with strong, present vocals. Critics praise his music, stating it's "gentle, undulating waves of soft-core acoustic pop... within shouting distance of Elliot Smith's memorial slip and Cardinal's chamber-pop dingy" (Alternative Press), referring to his album as :hauntingly reflective and guttingly bittersweet... the kind of debut that sinks into your soul and catches you staring off into space." (All Music Guide).

WITH...

The Loneliest Monk...

Chicago's art rock duo, The Loneliest Monk, is the musical marriage of two artists with two different backgrounds. Front lady, Michelle Morales(master-of-cellos, keyboard, vocals), has performed live with talented acts such as Phillip Glass, Kanye West, and The Foo Fighters. With a lovely, fragile voice, she sings of all thinks cute, fun, and innocent, while Mile Benjamin (percussion, vocals, tiny pianos) lets his untamed passions pour over in a darker, more mysterious tone.

The Lonliest Monk is a performance, not just a rock show. Elaborate costumes, masks, and sets are supported by an avant-garde sound. Michelle and Miles bring to the stage a sort of cool, haunting and sexual air that is a welcoming detraction from the current indie trend.
